Top beauty blogger Sarah Berryman from I Am Fabulicious shares her ultimate body and skin care tips to help you during the colder months
Moisturise the right way
There is nothing better than gently massaging away old, dry scales to reveal fresh, smooth skin underneath
Different areas of your body require different levels of care when it comes to moisturisers. Your face, your lips, your eye area, your hands and your body all need something different from a moisturiser.
While your partner may not understand why you are clogging up the bathroom cabinet with different creams, your skin definitely understands and appreciates it.
Body creams can often be too heavy and oily for your face, face creams may be too light to use around the delicate eye area, and you really won’t get the desired effect if you use eye cream on your hands.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on all these lotions but by investing a little time and effort in to finding the right products for you, your skin will thank you by being radiant and gorgeous.
Try a face oil
Face oils are all the rage at the moment and for a very good reason. The essential oils in many face oils help to lock moisture into your skin better than many moisturisers, so if you feel that your skin needs a little extra help this winter, invest in a good face oil.
Tip: If you have oily skin (like me) use instead of a moisturiser. When applying, dab a little onto the tips of your fingers and warm between them before applying in stroking movements around your face.
Salts are good for you
Salt, while not great for you when consumed in excess, can work wonders on your skin. Replace your trusty bubble bath with bath salts and feel the difference as they work to alleviate dry skin and sooth away the aches and pains of the day.
Now I’m not saying go and raid your kitchen cupboard and sit in a bath of table salt (though that would be funny) rather, look for good quality Dead Sea salts and if you enjoy a fragrant bath opt for some which are fragranced with natural scents such as lavender and rose.
Exfoliate for silky skin
Buff away tired, dead skin with a fabulous exfoliater. There is nothing better than gently massaging away old, dry scales to reveal fresh, smooth skin underneath.
Tip: Try a salt or sugar-based scrub (I find that these work best as they are slightly tougher on your skin and therefore create smoother results) which leave your skin feeling fresh and silky smooth.
Make time for hands
They say that one of the biggest giveaways to a woman’s age is her hands.
Keep yours soft and supple by using a hand cream and using it daily. Vaseline Intensive Care’s range of creams work brilliantly, are non greasy and melt into your skin quickly.
When you’re out and about wear gloves wherever possible to keep your hands protected against the cold.
