LFW 2012: Day 1, part 1
After a speedy train ride down south and a frantic check-in at my hotel, I hot-footed it over to Somerset House and was soon swept up in the excitement.
The first day is always a bit chaotic, so after registering and catching up with friends I headed to the press lounge to plan my schedule...
LFW 2012: Day 1, part 2
I spotted a few key trends that I think we’ll all be wearing come September – sporty silhouettes given shape with cinched in belts, pretty tea dresses worn with socks and T-Bar heels and statement metallic heels.
I also managed to snap a shot of FROWer (front row-er!) Jameela Jamil – I loved her chic monochrome outfit and cute pork pie hat!
LFW 2012: Day 2, part 1
By day two I’d found my fashionable stride and wore a neon yellow dress with statement necklace and leather jacket.
I arrived at Somerset House early and wandered round the exhibitions, where designer collections are showcased when they’re not on the catwalk. I loved the bright prints and embellished fabrics – it’s nice to know my winter wardrobe won’t be dreary!
LFW 2012: Day 2, part 2
Unfortunately the weather didn’t reflect the collections and the heavens soon opened. Luckily I had my brolly with me but queuing for shows was a little wet!
The clothes soon cheered me up though, and shades of scarlet and sharp tailoring were all over the catwalks. I’m now wondering how to recreate those gorgeous glittery gold lips…
LFW 2012: Day 3, part 1
My final day at London Fashion Week started with a skinny latte – after two hectic days I desperately needed a caffeine boost! Then it was on to the Vauxhall Fashion Scout location where I had backstage access to one of the shows. Exciting!
LFW 2012: Day 3, part 2
Being backstage and watching all the preparations for a show was fascinating. It was very chaotic and at one point a plume of glitter filled the air, sending models and stylists running for cover!
There were two key looks – big, fluffy beehives with dramatic smoky eyes and nude, dewy faces with top knots. Gorgeous!
LFW 2012: Day 3, part 3
After my backstage experience, it was time to see the show in all its glory. I took my seat and watched as each look hit the catwalk – this oversized rucksack was a definite crowd-pleaser and one I can see all over the high street for Autumn/Winter...
LFW 2012: Close
I ended the day and my time at London Fashion Week with a delicious meal and a couple of after-show parties (no photos allowed!). I’ve had a fantastic time here in London – bring on next season!
To many, February is known as Fashion Month – from New York to London to Paris and Milan, designers showcase their new season collections in week-long celebrations of all things sartorial. In London, the best of British geared up for their time in the spotlight from Friday 17th and I was there to capture my favourite fashionable moments.
My key trends for AW12:
- Sporty silhouettes cinched in with a belt
- Heavy fabrics with added detail, like embroidered wool
- Metallic shoes with platform heels
- Playful prints – think Cowboys and Indians
- Asymmetric shapes
- Dramatic hair and makeup – beehives, metallic lips, glittery eyes
